Week six of the 2025 NFL season

It's week six in the NFL season , following recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable in those games was the number of infractions each committed. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this Sunday.
But it was positive to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the top defender in CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver prevailed in that battle.
They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily rushing extra pass rushers instead they could position two LBs in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, we said on a program that Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then did a good job of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while recent RB JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive situations.
This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass all over, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he is highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, being able to throw on the run, and using different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you consistently rush it consumes time and forces the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defense must cover the area downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.
Nix has pushed back at Payton during games sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. The coach can truly build something up how he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach owns a championship and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, that's a good place to hold the AFC West. The key is is maintain this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.
Since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the West.
This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
