The Gunners Face Wolverhampton Wanderers in Pivotal English Top Division Encounter

All eyes turn for a compelling top-flight matchup as league leaders the Gunners entertain rock-bottom Wolves to the Emirates Stadium.

Confirmed Sides

Mikel Arteta's side have opted for a trio of alterations from the team that endured a narrow defeat at Aston Villa in their previous outing. The French defender, the Swedish striker and the Brazilian winger all start in the lineup. The captain and Mikel Merino drop to the substitutes' bench, while Riccardo Calafiori is absent. The centre-back returns after missing five matches due to injury.

Wolves also make three changes to their starting XI following being soundly beaten 4-1 at Molineux by United last time out. Matt Doherty, the Brazilian midfielder and the South Korean forward come in. Hoever and Arias drop to the substitutes, while Bellegarde is omitted altogether.

The Setup

Good evening! Because, let's be honest …

The table paints a stark contrast. The hosts sit comfortably at the pinnacle of the table, while Wolves occupy the bottom of the division.

… yet while this will be the 42nd time the Premier League leaders have played the team propping up the division – winning 30 out of 41, with seven draws – which team is behind two of the four all-time upsets? Why, Wolves, that’s who! So while the Arsenal manager will undoubtedly be anticipating another victory, the Wolves boss must know that underdogs sometimes find the target, and you never know. The start is at 8pm GMT. Let's go!

(The other two last-over-first victories in the Premier League era are Oldham’s 1-0 win over United in March 1993, and Tottenham Hotspur – admittedly, a surprising one - beating Liverpool in November 2008.)
