The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," states an announcement.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, turning the city into a battlefield. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for about several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider market, particularly in North America. Manufacturing will start right after the campaign, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players leverage abilities to roll small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles stress placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence success chances. This system seems built to reward teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Novel Wound System

The way injuries is tracked adds a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At zero health, an operative is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand common to many shooter games.
  3. Any agent knocked down must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A publicly available Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
