Supporters Demand Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are urging that a person who jumped a barrier and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Many supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
