Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the Premier League under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the idea of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he told the podcast host: “I said I will never coach another team in England. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, so the choice could be mine down the line, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding the specific conditions would have to unfold to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be during downpours through long matches; No need for interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, however, dining out alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits at the club. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that won the league in the previous season. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the team environment absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it on a personal level is challenging. Impossible.”
